Marina Fitness puts group workouts on the menu
30th November 2009
Half Moon Bay’s new fitness club has just launched group fitness classes. The exclusive group fitness studio caters for up to 20 members per class – providing an energised environment while remaining attentive to all participants.
Group fitness classes started last week and include 6am ‘Power’ sessions with bars and weights, an 8.15am shadow boxing ‘Fight-Do’ class with lots of punching and kicking, and ‘Oxigeno’ classes in the morning and evening, which blend yoga and pilates moves.
Group fitness classes are free for Marina Fitness members and will be extended in the New Year when even more options and times become available.
Manukau Leisure’s Fitness Group Manager, Lucy Lloyd-Barker, says the group workouts are similar to those found at the company’s Community Gyms, “we run Radical Fitness classes and also bring in top quality private instructors. Everyone has different needs and preferences, and group fitness provides a fun way of exercising with plenty of different options for members.”
Located above lollipops childcare in the new Compass Building, Marina Fitness is a fully operational, high-end gym that is helping local residents and ferry commuters get in shape, and stay fit.
Michelle Olds, team leader, says the club responds to high demand for a fitness centre in the Half Moon Bay area, "The response we’ve had from local residents has been extremely encouraging and bringing on new services such as group fitness means we’ve got even more in our arsenal to excite them with.”
Marina Fitness is Manukau Leisure’s first stand-alone gym. Others, like those found at Howick Recreation Centre and Lloyd Elsmore Park, are located within recreation facilities. Prospective members are encouraged to drop by and see the new gym for themselves.
